The Wanderers rugby club was formed in spring 2005, comprising of Kenyan players who have settled in Houston. The club has since expanded and now has players from US, England, New Zealand among other countries. Currently, we play tournaments (7s, 10s, and 15s) and friendly matches.
The Mission of the Houston Wanderers Rugby Football Club is to foster participation and competition in the game of Rugby among people of all ages, all incomes, and all abilities, who cross all races and religions, ethnicities and gender.
In the process, we strive to:
- Encourage anyone and everyone who plays or participates in any way in the game of Rugby Union Football
- Promote the game of Rugby Union Football in a positive way by our actions on and off the field
- Create a welcoming and encouraging learning environment for new Rugby players
- Create a successful team that understands the value of winning
- Serve the community through various athletic exhibitions, educational programs, and other community service
- To participate in rugby games, social activities and learn more about other cultures.
- To develop players, in character both on and off the rugby field
- Build a network among the Wandies alumni to provide job opportunities and business contacts for club members all over the world
